  • Operating Principle:

    In emergency situations, such as a fire surrounding the tank, if the pressure/vacuum valve or standard vent cannot handle the overpressure, the valve disc will open at the pre-set opening pressure, allowing the tank to rapidly vent excess pressure. Once the pressure is released, the hinged cover will return to its closed position, ensuring proper reset.

8100 Emergency Relief Vent

The Model 8100 emergency relief vent is widely used in protection systems for atmospheric storage tanks with a design pressure of 6.9 kPa or less (gauge pressure at the tank top). It is typically installed horizontally at the top of the tank. In the event of a fire or excessive pressure buildup in the tank, if the pressure/vacuum valve fails or is unable to meet the required venting capacity, the emergency relief vent will activate to prevent overpressure and potential damage to the tank. The opening pressure of the emergency relief vent is set between the opening pressure of the pressure/vacuum valve and the design pressure of the tank. This ensures both material conservation and the safety of the tank.
